Meet Kari & Teresa Shaw – Yard Love McKinney, who started their business in February 2024!
Why did you choose to start a sign business with Yard Love?
We chose to join the Yard Love community because we’re passionate about spreading happiness. Amy Backus introduced us to the business, and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to both have fun and make extra income while bringing joy to others. I (Teresa) was semi-retired but recently transitioned into real estate, while Kari is a dedicated second-grade teacher.
What is a community event you’ve set up for and why was it special for you to be involved?
One memorable event was when I had the opportunity to set a sign for the “Courts of McKinney” community. As an active pickleball player, it was especially rewarding to contribute to an event in a place I love. The Courts wanted to welcome their members, and I was thrilled to help create a fun and welcoming sign for them.
What is a sign you’ve set that has a special story or got a fun response from the customer?
One of my most special signs was for a customer welcoming his wife home after her incredible hike up Mount Kilimanjaro. The emotional response from both of them made it all the more meaningful. Another fun project was a birthday sign ordered by three siblings for their “50-year-old baby brother.” The playful nature of the sign made it a real hit!
What do you love most about being a Yard Love affiliate?
What I love most about being an affiliate is seeing the smiles and hearing the kind comments from customers who truly appreciate our service. It’s such a fun and rewarding way to get involved in the community. Plus, the flexibility it offers to our family is fantastic. We get to run a side business, make money, and have fun all at the same time!
