Why did you choose to start a sign business with Yard Love?
In January 2025 we were getting ready to adopt our 3 year old son from foster care, I was on maternity leave with our 5 month old and I was facing having to go back to work at my full time job as a medical assistant. The thought of leaving both my boys who I knew needed me at the time was keeping me up at night. After much thinking about what I would like to do and research I came across Yard Love. I thought it would be a great way for me to spread joy throughout my community while being able to stay home with my boys. I signed up for the informational zoom call and felt at home right away. I instantly felt supported and understood which made making such a huge life decision so much easier.
What is a community event you’ve set up for, and why was it special for you to be involved?
I recently did a sign for our local hospitals NICU reunion. Every year they gather all the families who were patients of the NICU so they can thank and catch up with the doctors and nurses who were apart of their lives at such a difficult time. My pregnancy with my son was considered high risk and although we were lucky enough to not have to spend time in the NICU, I knew it was something we could have had to face. It was a great feeling to get to be a small part of gathering those patients and healthcare workers together to celebrate.
What is a sign you’ve set that has a special story or got a fun response from the customer?
I received a message one night at 9pm from a mother asking if there was anyway I could do a sign the next morning for her sons birthday. His birthday was not for a couple weeks but she was going to be starting cancer treatment and isolating so they were celebrating early. I stayed up a little late and put something together. I got a message from the mom the next day thanking me for making her sons day so special. She has since booked me for 2 of her other childrens birthdays.
What do you love most about being a Yard Love affiliate?
It is so fun being able to help people celebrate special moments in their lives. Being able to do that while staying home raising my boys is such a blessing. My 4 year old loves coming out in the garage with me and helping mommy do her signs.
