Meet Kara Davenport with Yard Love Southland!

She started her business in June 2021!

Why did you choose to start a sign business with Yard Love?

I became an affiliate after being a customer first. I ordered a sign for my daughters’ birthday, she was visiting family in Atlanta so I worked with an Atlanta affiliate. It was after going through the experience that I decided I would love to bring signs to my area just outside of Chicago, it became a rewarding way to create an additional stream of income but also give me, my mom and my daughter an opportunity to do something together. 3 generations working together has been a great experience for all of us. My mom, Eileen Davenport is such a tremendous part of Yard Love Southland, she handles all the correspondence, finalizing the orders, and keeping my calendar up to date. I could not do any of this without her!

What is a community event you’ve set up for and why was it special for you to be involved in it? Share the picture from the event.

Every October I donate two signs for a breast cancer walk for the American Cancer Society. The participants and survivors love posing in front of the signs to commemorate their participation. They look forward to it every year.

What is a sign you’ve set that has a special story or got a fun response from the customer?

I have a customer that lost her daughter in a tragic police shooting during the COVID lock down. Every year, since my first year that I started the business she books a memorial sign to mark the anniversary of her death. The first year was a candle light vigil, but now they hold an annual fundraising picnic in her honor. It’s an honor to provide the sign every year.

What do you love most about being a Yard Love affiliate?

I love that people love the signs so much, the signs really bring folks true enjoyment. I have repeat customers that order 3 – 4 signs every season for every special occasion they celebrate. It really makes me so happy to be the conduit for that joy, they’re so meaningful to my customers and therefore meaningful to me. Bottom line, it’s just very rewarding.
