Why did you choose to start a sign business with Yard Love?
I decided to start a business with Yard Love after I had been looking into another yard sign business a couple years earlier. I was pregnant with my 3rd child and was tired of corporate America and wanted to start something I could do while still being around my kids. I quickly realized it wasn’t the right time to start a yard business right before having a newborn. Fast forward to when my daughter was a year old, my sister in-law called to tell me about Yard Love. At the time, Carrie was living in Tulsa, OK where my SIL lived and they had a mutual friend. I called Carrie immediately, and became the 3rd affiliate under Yard Love. I became an official YL affiliate in October of 2018 and my first sign was my best friend’s daughter the following week.
What is a community event you’ve set up for, and why was it special for you to be involved?
In the last 7 years I have done a lot of fun, interesting, creative and funny signs. It would be hard to pick a favorite. I setup the same signs for schools every year, for client events, and even for the same 90+ clients who laugh that they made it to another year to have a sign. One of them tells me every year she has to wait for her sign to remember the age she is.
What is a sign you’ve set that has a special story or got a fun response from the customer?
During COVID, I did 100’s of drive by signs. I remember doing two for breast cancer survivors. Those are probably two of my favorites I have done. I also love doing birth announcement signs and I think I could do a HBD sign in my sleep by now.
What do you love most about being a Yard Love affiliate?
I think my favorite thing about being a Yard Love affiliate is the joy I know it brings to everyone that is the recipient of that sign. I almost feel like a birthday ninja – swoop in the night to setup a sign, knowing the excitement it will bring the next morning. Even my kids and their friends want to help out – which makes it even more fun now.
What month and year did you join Yard Love?
October 2018 – I can’t believe this is my 7th year with YL, and this business doesn’t seem to be slowing down or going anywhere. People still love to celebrate their loved ones, and I am grateful to be a part of that!
